Other Funtions

Policy

NTSCORP undertakes a range of policy activities on behalf of Traditional Owners including advocacy, submission writing, participation on reference groups and legislative drafting.

Policy activities are undertaken in areas such as:

  • Fishing rights and interests;
  • Natural resources;
  • Water rights;
  • Water management trust; and
  • Land Rights Act and Native Title Act.

As outlined above, increased policy activity and consultation has taken place during 2008-2009.


Education

Three education workshops were convened for Traditional Owners in NSW during 2008-2009 in Moruya, Ashford and Cowra.


Land Summits

One land summit was convened for Ngiyampaa People in Cobar.


Research: Identification of Native Title Claimants and Holders

The Research division provided a range of assistance in matters currently represented by NTSCORP, including in the preparation of anthropological and historical reports in support of credible evidence material. In addition, research projects were undertaken for the South Coast, Ngiyampaa, Western Bundjalung and Southern Wiradjuri.
