Community and Governance

Acknowledgement of Country

NTSCORP is located on the lands of the Gadigal people of the Dharug Nation. We would like to acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land on which we work and pay our respects to the Elders past and present.

Governance

Robust corporate governance is the cornerstone of any good company. This is particularly so for a company like NTSCORP that receives public funding and exists to provide services to the Aboriginal community in NSW and the ACT. The Traditional Owners we assist, government and the community expect the NTSCORP board and staff to conduct their business with high levels of accountability, transparency and ethical behaviour.

NTSCORP takes good corporate governance seriously. We are committed to ensuring that good governance practices underpin all Company operations and all dealings with Traditional Owners, staff, directors, external stakeholders such as FaHCSIA, other government agencies, the Federal Court, the National Native Title Tribunal, NSWALC and LALCs, and the broader Australian community.

NTSCORP has implemented a range of policies, procedures and practices to ensure the maintenance and strengthening of robust corporate governance at every level of the Company.

The Aboriginal Traditional Owners that we are proud to represent can be confident that our Company is committed to the promotion of a corporate culture that is accountable, ethical and transparent.

Community and Corporate Responsibility

As an Aboriginal organisation and a good corporate citizen, NTSCORP is proud of its commitment to community, sustainability and corporate responsibility.

Community engagement with our local Redfern community as well as the broader NSW and ACT Aboriginal communities is central to our corporate responsibility activities. We work with community representatives to ensure that our projects and policies are culturally appropriate. Many of our corporate responsibility activities are directly related to sport and culture, recognising the importance of these activities to the communities we serve. Each year, we attend the Aboriginal Rugby League Knockout in regional NSW and the Yabun Festival in Sydney.

NTSCORP staff have also been involved in a broad range of formal and informal projects working with respected community organisations such as the Tribal Warrior Association, Redfern Aboriginal Housing Company and Jawun Indigenous Corporate Partnerships (previously the Indigenous Enterprise Partnerships).

We are also committed to supporting local Aboriginal businesses where possible through the purchase of goods and services. NTSCORP is a member of the Australian Indigenous Chamber of Commerce and the Redfern Waterloo Chamber of Commerce.

NTSCORP takes its environmental and sustainability responsibilities seriously and endeavors to promote sustainable business practices both within the Company and in the community.
